Tour Salkantay Machupicchu 5 days/4 nights

 

Five days and four night Salkantay to Machupicchu trek.

As a new alternative to arrive to Machupicchu has been the route ¨Salkantay – Machupicchu¨ that offers beautiful natural landscapes like the snowy of Salkantay and diverse colorful valleys surrounded by abundant flora and fauna of the place. Also on this tour we will go from being on top of the mountains to the edge of Peruvian jungle where we will also have abundant flora and fauna of the place.

Route:

Dia 1 : Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa (include breakfast, lunch and dinner)

We pick you up from your hotel in the city of Cusco at (5:00 a.m. aprox.) We board our private transport to the town of Mollepata approximately 2.5 hours and when we arrive at the village we will have breakfast. Then we will continue on our transport until we arrive to (Cruz Pata) to start our walk of 2 or 3 hours approximately, until arriving at (SayllaPata) where we will have lunch. After our lunch we will have time to rest and take pictures, then we will continue with our walk towards Soraypampa (3.850 above sea level.) in this part of the way we will be in front of the first snowy called Humantay. Later we will be around 5 pm. approx in our first camp where our cook will be waiting for us with some hot tea to regain our strength. After a short break in the camp we will have dinner.

 

Dia 2 : Soraypampa – Chaullay (include breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Very early in the morning we will leave from our camp in Soraypampa, after a fortifying breakfast with direction to the snowy Salkantay that is at (4,540 m.s.n.m.) that is the highest point of the whole route, for approximately 4 hours we will ascend this first step. Where we will have a short break to be able to take photos of the impressive view that will be appreciated from this point. During the trip we will find several mounds of stones called Apachetas. Afterwards we will descend for approximately 1 hour where we will have lunch and then continue walking for 3 hours approx. Until arriving at Chaullay where is our second camp and where we will have a comfortable dinner.

 

Dia 3 : Chaullay – Sawayaco – Santa Teresa (include brakfast, lunch and dinner)

After our good breakfast early in the morning we will depart from Chaullay at 7:00 am approx. To continue with our walk towards Collcapampa where we will pass through narrow paths with abundant flora of the area as the different types of orchids and waterfalls that will be seen during the whole trip. After 5 hours of walking we will finally arrive to Sawayaco where some people also call it (the beach) where we will take a transport to Santa Teresa, which is at 1,645 above sea level. In this place we will have lunch and then we will arrive in 45 minutes to Santa Teresa around 3.00 pm where we will settle. After a short rest we will go to the medicinal baths (entrance included) that is located to 4.5 km aprox. Of Santa Teresa. Then in the evening we will have dinner.

 

Dia 4 : Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes (include breakfast and lunch)

We will get up at approximately 8:00 am in the morning and after having breakfast we will go on a transportation for approximately 30 minutes until arriving at the Hidroelectrica, after arriving at Hidroeléctrica we will continue walking approximately 2 hours until arriving at Aguas Calientes town where we will have lunch. After being in Aguas calientes town we will go to our hotel and you will have time to know a little about this Aguas Calientes town and if you wish you can visit the hot springs. Later in the night we will coordinate the ascent of the following day to the city of Machupicchu. (Dinner by your own to enjoy the village)

 

Dia 5 : Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco (Include breakfast, lunch and snack on th way to Cusco)

This day is very important because on this day you will meet one of the Wonders of the world  Machupicchu. We will get up very early Approximately at 5:30 am and after having breakfast We will take the first bus that will take us to the sanctuary of Machupicchu for approximately 30 minutes. Then we will have our guided tour for approximately 2 hours where the guide will take us to the most important places of the citadel. After our visit we will have the whole afternoon free to take photos and travel on our own in Machupicchu (the time depends a lot on the train schedule because we have to be half an hour before the departure of the train in the station). The other option is to climb the Huaynapicchu (not included) to appreciate the impressive view of the whole citadel. Finally we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes and then go to the station and wait for our train that will take us back to the town of Ollantaytambo. In this time of waiting we will have our lunch and then we will take the train to Ollantaytambo and being in this town we will wait for a private bus that will take us to the city of Cusco where we will arrive at 11:00 pm Approximately.

On the way from Ollantaytambo to Cusco they will be given a small snack.
